Combination Reaction : Chemical Reaction
A combination reaction (also called a synthesis reaction) is the reaction of two
reactants that combine to form one single product. The reactants
are either elements or compounds, in one of three combinations: an element plus
an element, an element plus a compound, or a compound plus a compound. Reactions
can be endothermic or exothermic, as well as oxidation-reduction (redox)
or non-redox. Typically, combination reactions are exothermic reactions.
The reaction can be represented as:
X + Y → XY
